United States (US) State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland on Monday said that US was ready to help Pakistan-India to solve their differences on the Siachen issue.
Giving a briefing to media at State Department Nuland condole Pakistani government on the incident and said that US sent technical team comprised of eight members to Pakistan on the request of Pakistani government.
“Pakistani government has not requested for more support,” she said.
Responding to Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari’s recent visit to India Nuland said that the meeting between Zardari and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would help both countries to step forward towards peace process.
“Both countries can play an important role for the peace and prosperity of the region,” Nuland said adding that peace would prevail in the region through better relationship between the two countries.
Indicating towards the Pak-Afghan border issue, the state department spokesperson said that US was conducting talks with Pakistan regarding the interventions of militants from Pakistan’s tribal areas to Afghanistan.
